Set up the DoshHero Budget

Pay lands, then splits into swipe cards and save pots. Guesses are fine.
This is a bank setup, not a spreadsheet dare. Pay hits Landing. You don’t swipe that account. After payday, base pay auto-splits into a few buckets: cards for the stuff that goes out, saves that sit until you need them.
Guesses are fine. $0 is fine if a bucket isn’t you. Change it later. This is a way to organise a week: educational, not personal advice.
Become a Dosh Hero
A Dosh Hero manages their money properly and still lives their life. Future + this weekend. That’s the whole job.

The map
Pay in the middle. Cards on the left. Saves on the right. Don’t spend from Landing. It just receives, then splits.

The buckets
Same names in the app. Skip any that don’t apply. Open them at $0, or don’t open them. Your plan.
Card = swipe / auto-pay. Save = sits until you move it.
| Bucket | Card / save | What it’s for | How you use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Housing | Card | Rent plus utilities: power, gas, internet | Rent auto from the card. Utilities live on the card. |
| Everyday spends | Card | Day-to-day: groceries, fuel, parking, train, coffee, bits | Swipe this one. Fuel, parking, and train live here, not in Wheels. |
| Bills & subs | Card | Everything in Regular outs: gym, phone, Netflix, loans | Loans and credit via auto transfer. Card-charged subs and bills auto on this card. |
| Wheels | Save | Rego and insurance | Sits until due, then a manual transfer. $0 if there’s no car. |
| Flex Fund | Save | Move-it money: gifts, a gap, whatever crops up | Slide it where it’s needed, or let it build. |
| Savings | Save | The general pile | Let it grow. No drama. |
| Fun | Save | Guilt-free you-money | Transfer to Everyday when you want it. |
| Investing | Save | Future you | Let it sit, or auto across to your investing app. |
| Emergency Fund | Save | A buffer for life being life | Weekly trickle stays on. First about $1,000. Long target about 3 months of essentials. |
| Holiday | Save | Trip money | Sits until you’re going. Then transfer to Everyday, or pay from the save. |
Set up in 4 steps
Guesses are fine. Tweak later. The comic is the picture; the steps underneath are the same story in words.

1. Open Landing
Open a transaction account you never swipe from. Pay goes in here. That’s the whole job of this account: receive, then split.
2. Make buckets
Open card and save accounts and name them like the table. Three cards: Housing, Everyday spends, Bills & subs. Saves: Wheels, Flex Fund, Savings, Fun, Investing, Emergency Fund, Holiday.
A bucket that isn’t you can stay closed, or sit at $0. Either is a real plan.
3. Auto-split after payday
Set transfers from Landing into each bucket using base pay only: the regular number, not a good overtime week. It should happen on its own after payday so you’re not doing maths at the ATM.
4. Automate the outs
- Housing card. Rent auto. Power, gas, and internet on the card.
- Bills & subs card. Everything in Regular outs. Loans and credit via auto transfer. Subs and bills that charge a card, auto on this one.
- Saves: Wheels, Holiday, and the rest sit until you need them. Then transfer, or pay from the save.
Budget the boring number. Overtime, shift penalties, extras. Move them wherever makes sense for you. More Everyday. Savings. Investing. Your money, make it work for you.
AU tip. Two banks is fine
Aussie banks often let you have about 2 cards and about 10 saves. Three cards may mean two banks. Saves are the easy ones.
Sketch your week
The guided budget in the app uses these same buckets. Guesses are fine. You can change them later.
