How do I even check my Super is landing?

Make sure the Super your employer pays actually shows up in your account, and is invested for later-you. Super guarantee is 12%.
Checking your Super is landing means making sure the Super your employer pays for you actually shows up in your Super account, and is getting invested for later-you.
Super is usually on top of your wage, not a cut of take-home. You don’t have to become a Super nerd this month. You do want the machine on.
Super guarantee. 12%
Super guarantee (SG) is the percentage your employer is generally required to pay into your fund. From 1 July 2025 that’s 12% of ordinary time earnings for most employees (rules and who counts sit with the ATO and your award). If this page and ato.gov.au disagree, the ATO wins. The plain version: What even is the Super guarantee?.
It’s still your money, invested on a long clock. Same idea as the Investing line: longer lock, automatic feed.
Payslip, then your fund
Three calm places to look:
- Payslip. Is Super listed? Some slips show the SG amount. Some don’t. Either way, the fund is the source of truth for “did it arrive?”
- Your Super fund's app or website. Log in to your own fund (like Aware Super, Hostplus or AustralianSuper) to see your balance and each contribution as it lands. This is where you check it arrived.
- myGov, for lost Super. If a past casual job opened an account you forgot about, myGov (ATO, then Super) can find it and help you combine it.
First pay can take a bit to show up in the fund. Have a squiz after you’ve been paid a couple of times.
If it’s quiet
If nothing’s showing after you’ve been paid a bit, ask payroll. That’s admin, not you being “bad with money.” Keep the payslip. The ATO has steps if Super isn’t being paid.
Two small piles from two jobs is common. You can tidy that later. Don’t panic-merge on a mate’s tip. Insurance can hitch a ride.
What this is not
- Not a full Super strategy. Confirm the feed. The rest can wait.
- Not a lecture to pick a “perfect” fund this week.
- Not the same as your week budget. Super is a later-you pile.
Optional: see it in DoshHero
If you want the money picture in one spot, Net Worth on DoshHero can hold a Super line so later-you is on the same page as this week. Optional. The check still works without the app. The idea: What even is net worth?.
